Inspiring Collections

Have you seen the blog A Collection a Day? Artist Lisa Congdon is documenting one collection each day.  Most are real, some are imagined, all are beautifully photographed or drawn. I love these collections so much it almost makes me want to become a pack-rat and keep every button, scrap of paper and glass jar. But unfortunately, I despise clutter way too much for that. My one collection that I can’t do without is my children’s artwork, and Lisa’s blog is giving me a few ideas for a fun documentation project of my own, not to mention some new materials for our daily craft time.

Year in Review: My 2009 Word Cloud

I came across a site recently that lets you enter text or point it to your blog and it creates a ‘word cloud’ of common words appearing within the content.  You can customize the colors, fonts and layout. Based on my blog, which I started in early 2009, it came back with the following image:

I’m not sure how wordle works, but if it’s like a tag cloud, there is a correlation between the size of the word and its frequency of appearance.  And if that’s true,  my 2009 was full of flowers and lollipops:)

Here’s the site:
