Last week’s photography assignment was to photograph a fence, with the purpose of exploring the concept of leading lines. There are two types of fences in our neighborhood – brand new wood fences that appear outside of homes and barbed wire fences that appear around areas of undeveloped land. I didn’t feel particularly inspired by either, but opted to photograph a barbed wire fence when I came across one that looked somewhat worn and covered by vines.
Last week was the first time that I also completed the extra credit assignment (yay, me!), which involved shooting a portrait using only a portion of the body. The purpose of this exercise was to explore the use of negative space. For this assignment, I took the following pictures of my children playing in our yard:

Great shots, you must be their “star” student
I wish – there are some awesome photographers in our class! Maybe someday …
I love that second shot!
The fence turned out very nice.
And I really like the pictures with “parts” – even though one would normally not think of taking pictures of just the feet / legs.
Your pictures are great! May I ask what camera do you use?
Hi Elaine,
I use a Canon Rebel T2i. Thank you!!
You always make our children look so beautiful. Me, not so much.
